hello and happy halloween~! i have an infinite quantity of grey candies to give out! the catch is i'd like recommendations for scary and/or disturbing media! (with the exception of stuff by junji ito... i've read all his stuff already. oops lmao) i'd much appreciate it if you left a link to your candy post so i can collect treats too~! happy trick or treating y'all!
I'm not a huge Horror person but.... hmm.... at the risk of sounding like a 12 year old, the FNAF franchise legit scares the crap out of me haha I suck :'D
yami shibai is literally terrifying, like. 1 and 2 are SO SCARY (3 was a little disappointing) but even though they're such short eps theyre SO spooky. japanese folklore/myths/horror tales etc always scare me so much ;~; i def reccommend it though! the animation style is so interesting and out there, and it just makes it all the more freaky. ;;
my post is here if you'd like some candy in return!
For horror, I recommend anything by Clive Barker. His writing is just insane, and he has a bunch of short story collections, so you don't have to read an entire book at once!
if you don't mind gore/extremely graphic death scenes, I'd recommend the Corpse Party remake for PSP/PS Vita! it's not all that scary once you get used to the formula imo, but the graphic death scenes/bad endings give me life..... and it also has some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in anything ever. the second game Book of Shadows isn't quite as good as the first but has more memorable death scenes so I'd still recommend that one too if you like the first game!
And I'd definitely recommend the Gakkou Gurashi anime/manga! If you haven't seen it yet, the best way to check it out would be to watch the first episode without looking up any information on it prior, haha.
Trick or Treat Contract ╱人◕‿‿◕人╲ For Horror movies, I really like the Evil Dead Triliogy, Both versions of The Crazies (1973 and 2010), both of The Thing, Silent Hill, Uh... 28 Days Later.... I just like horror movies a lot, especially when they have either a very good story and characters, or good puppetiering/clay effects.
I... I don't have any recommendations, sorry. ;A; I haven't watched/read any horror anything in ages, but perhaps I'll look up what others have suggested!
I'd highly recommend playing Outlast and Amnesia: The Dark Descent if you haven't already! They're a lot of fun! Also probably super cheap on Steam now.
I've been on a creepy podcast kick these days, especially it being so close to halloween so here's some that I can recommend:
Black Tapes, Tanis, Astonishing Legends (the dyatlov pass and skinwalker ranch eps for this one are great!) and Lore
I also recently finished playing up Dead Secret so if a murder-mystery game that involves some japanese folklore and fringe science sounds like your thing, give it a try too
Eeeeeh, okay, most of my horror stuff is western, and really horror-lite, but here are some faves: Supernatural is a tv show that I enjoy the folklore horror aspects of (though really, I think the first two seasons are better at sticking to the horror instead of an 'eh' overarching plot), the Witches of Eastwick (the older movie, not the newish tv show), and Death Becomes Her (the movie with Goldie Hawn).
Trick or treat~! My post! I don't really like horror stuff, but if you'd like to hear a guy with a nice voice read creepy stories from reddit I'd suggest Cry Reads, I really like it! Even though I can only listen to one or two at a time because I'm a wuss
i actually don't touch any scary stuff at all lmao i'm a huge weenie. literally all i can recommend is 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors which i'm sure everyone's already played haha. i've heard Black Mirror on netflix is good but it's more like, dark sci-fi than horror the only ep i watched was just straight up sci-fi but it was really good
Probably the only disturbing stuff I'm touching are the murder mystery stuff, like Dangan Ronpa and Zero Escape. I used to be able to watch Elfen Lied without any problems when I was in high school what happened to me.
