happy   halloween!

you came to the right neighborhood, kiddo!

trick    or   treat?

i have an infinite quantity of red candies, and i'm itching to give them out... for a price! >:3

in the spirit of the spooky holiday, i'd like recommendations for horror and suspense animanga! i'll take recs for violent, creepy, disturbing, and just generally unsettling stuff too! (the only exception is anything by junji ito; i've uh... read all his stuff already... orz) if you leave a link to your candy post, that would be much appreciated too~

Trick or Treat

I don't have any recommendations since I'm not really a big horror and I've only honestly read Junji Ito and played Resident Evil. Though good spooks you can do is play Phasmopobia on Steam...

If you haven't done so yet, my treats (NO TRICKS PROMISE) is here

In terms of ones that haven't been mentioned on this post yet hmmm

- Princess Resurrection by Yasunori Mitsunaga, which is an all-time favorite manga of mine. About an Ordinary Protagonist Dude accidentally getting killed by an aloof princess lady stuck in a bloody clan battle with her siblings. She decides to bring him back to life as one of her quasi-immortal bodyguards with cool powers and a variety of monster-themed hijinks ensue /o/ this one's pretty gory FYI

Franken Fran by Katsuhisa Kigitsu, suuuuuuuper body horror manga. Mad scientist's cute daughter is mad scientist Jr LMAO its episodic and has no real plot, just Fran continuing to perform weird fucking surgeries on people they might not have even asked for, but she has to bc her dad instilled a DONT EVER LET THE PATIENT DIE, EVER mindset into her. Tons of body horror, excellent black comedy.

(belated) trick or treat! 🎃 i'm baby and terrible with horror, but i'll +1 mononoke! it actually starts in another series called ayakashi, japanese classic horror -- i believe it's the last 4 eps? but it's very good, and it likes to dip into surreal horror?

and people have mentioned perfect blue, so i'll drop in paranoia agent, which isn't Scary scary, but it's unnerving enough that it really stuck with me after i watched it!

trick or treat!!

oh god i'm so bad at animanga i don't remember the last time i consumed something new LMAO... uh, i enjoyed franken fran Back In The Day(tm)! at its core it's just one big body horror warning, but it's surprisingly heartfelt because fran genuinely tries her best to help her patients...

Soooooooo I recently found out, that one of my favorite series ever, Ayashi No Ceres, is listed as Horror too. For excellent reasons, it has some really heavy and bad stuff too but it's also listed as drama, romance, comedy etc so there are definitely worse series out there too lol. I'm not so into horror these days.

Trick or Treat! ( you've visited my post already, so no link here! :3)

I don't know much horror animanga, unfortunately, but I will give a shoutout to xxxHolic by CLAMP because it is technically a spooky scary horror series, featuring a young man called Watanuki who can see ghosts and creepy monsters which torment him daily, and the witch he accidentally stumbles on who he eventually starts working for to get rid of his "curse". I remember really liking it as a kid, because every chapter focused on a new story of a new client of the witch hoping to get rid of a curse or a monster or Something Terrible happening in their lives, so while not especially disturbing, it did hit that sort of more human melancholy of horror of people being caught up in terrible circumstances outside their control.
